CONNECTION TO CLOCK OR TRAINING APP
Before you start the race

You can connect directly to the following apps / platforms: Strava, Polar *, Garmin * and Suunto.

* IMPORTANT: Should you use Garmin or Polar? Then you must connect to "My Page" before you start your virtual race, as only future sessions after your first login and app approval will be available for upload to "my time". When done, you can follow the instructions below here. If you did not do this before you completed the race, you can use Option 3 - upload activity file. See explanation below.

You log the session in the usual way, start when you are ready to start, and stop when you have completed the correct number of kilometers and meters for your distance. NOTE - read important info at the bottom regarding breaks and stops.

When you have completed the race

After completing the virtual race, log in to "My Page" and go to "My Time". Select option 1, and connect to your app / platform. A login window for your app / platform will appear. Log in and approve access for the UltimateVIRTUAL app to your account, then a list of your sessions will appear. Choose the session for your race and record your result.

If you are using a platform that is not listed, we recommend that you use Option 3 - Upload activity file.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All registered sessions are treated equally and analyzed on a fair basis. All result calculations are based on the measured time and the measured distance given by the device / app / platform you have used. If you have run longer than your distance, we will calculate backwards to your accumulated time at the time you completed your distance. If you have run shorter than your distance, we will calculate ahead on a fair basis based on your recent pace, within a certain tolerance range. Therefore, it is important to note that we can treat and evaluate your result differently than your device / platform provider; both in time and in distance completed.

The times are measured from start to finish. Any breaks / stops will not be deducted from your time.

Note: All results based on GPS activity / training devices are subject to human error and technically inaccurate measurements due to limitations on satellite / GPS tracking technology or surroundings during the race.

RACECONNET

RaceConnect is an app developed by our system provider, Ultimate Sports Services. It is a LIVE "tracking app" that is directly connected to our virtual races.

How does RaceConnect work?

RaceConnect makes time registration even easier and not least; it sends your result live as you run. For every five kilometers, it automatically sends split times to the results list!

This means that others can follow your progress in the race, or you can follow your friends, family or colleagues and check if you are well placed to beat their times! (Your position is not displayed, only time and distance).

But remember - like so many other GPS trackers, it does not work so well without good coverage, so make sure there is good coverage where you run, and if you have a watch, you may want to log the session with it as well, for safety's sake.

Once you have completed your race in the app, you will see your time in the results list - you do not need to log in to "My Page" and connect under "my time".

How do you use RaceConnect?

To download RaceConnect, you must have an iPhone or Android phone with the latest version of iOS / Android. Download the RaceConnect app in the AppStore or Google Play .

To log in to the app, you need a 7-digit tracker ID, which you will receive in the email with IMPORTANT INFO that you receive from the Oslo Marathon a few days before the event.

In the app you see how far you have run, how long you have spent and your pace / average time per kilometer. Make sure you have signal / coverage where you run. The safest way is to run with the phone attached to the upper arm to ensure the best signal. We do not recommend that you run with it in a seat belt, jacket or trouser pocket.

HOW TO DO IT:
  1. Download the app and log in with your TracerID
  2. Check GPS status (Symbol in the middle of the screen) - there must be coverage all the way for the race to be tracked correctly. Press «Start Tracker» and complete your distance
  3. Press «Stop Tracker» when you have completed your entire distance (Make sure you have run the correct number of kilometers!)
  4. Press "Finish" to end the race, and your time will be automatically uploaded to the results list!

UPDATE ACTIVITY FILE

If you use a watch or app platform that is not available for direct connection, or have other problems connecting to your device, we recommend that you use option 3 - upload activity file. In "my time" you can upload activity files in the following format; GPX, TCX and FIT. These file types can be exported from most devices or apps / platforms. Click the button that applies to your app / device / platform to learn how to export your activity file.

Can't find your app / watch / platform here? Try a search at support for your provider and / or google "* your device * + extract file".

MANUAL REGISTRATION

If you run without a watch / app, have problems connecting or uploading an activity file, you can register your time manually.

Log in to «my page», press the «my time» button, scroll down to manual registration, and enter your time in the boxes for hours, minutes and seconds, and register.

NOTE: If you register your time manually, it will be marked as "manually registered time" in the result list. Manually registered times without a valid activity file as proof is not a valid time, and you will not compete for a podium place at your distance.

REGISTER COMPLETED WITHOUT TIME

If you have problems with any of the other options or simply want to register that you have completed without entering your time, you can press the "Finished" button. Your name will appear in the results list and you will be registered as completed without time.

Log in to «my page», press «my time», and scroll down until you find the button for «completed without time». Register your race and you are on the results list.

ERROR IN YOUR RESULT?

If you think there is an error in the result you have registered, please read the information above carefully. GPS / activity and fitness devices are not a 100% accurate technology. If you disagree with your result, we also recommend that you familiarize yourself with our race and competition rules, the general information provided above and our participant information.
You can also use the option to register your time manually, this will overwrite previously registered time.

If you do not find the answers to your questions in this guide, please contact us on facebook or at info@oslomaraton.no.
