BMW OSLO MARATON

PARA PARTICIPANTS

WHAT ARE PARA CLASSES?

In 2010, Oslo Marathon created separate classes for people with disabilities, with separate classes for women and men. This was done on the initiative of the blind and visually impaired in Team RP.

A regular feature associated with the para-classes ever since they were introduced in 2010 is the collaboration between the blind and partially sighted from Team RP and Active Against Aancer. Every year, Team RP invites between 30 and 50 sports and cultural personalities to join as guides, where RP participants and their guide run to promote Acitve Against Cancer.

ARE YOU A PARA PARTICIPANT?

Para athletes are people with mobility, visual, hearing and/or developmental disabilities(Ref. NIF's strategy for para sport). People within these target groups can participate in our para classes. During the BMW Oslo Marathon, para participants can choose between the distances 10 for Grete, half marathon and marathon. We also have a racing distance for wheelchair users, 10 km Racing! Read more about all the dist ancesHERE.

TRAIN WITH US AT BISLETT

SK Vidar and Oslo Marathon have a large and active training group for para-athletes with weekly joint training sessions at Bislett Stadium.

The training group is for anyone who wants to participate in parade training, both parade participants and volunteer escorts. There is a training session every Wednesday, starting with running and ending with strength and balance training, and it is adapted to all levels. At each training session, companions are provided for the blind/visually impaired and others who need them.

If you want to participate, either as an athlete or as a companion, please contact Håkon Gisholt: hakongis@gmail.com

You can also join this Facebook group to get more information about other activities the participants are involved in.

To take advantage of this offer, show your participant number marked with para/racing to the guards standing next to the finish line, and they will show you the way to the tent. In the tent there will be luggage storage, as well as chairs and tables if you want to sit down and relax before and after the race. There is also a HC toilet at the tent for parade participants only.

Check the map in the next tab to find your way.
