The blind and partially sighted from Team RP struck in Birken!

A regular feature of our newsletters is that the Oslo Marathon every month follows the positive gang of blind and partially sighted athletes from Team RP. The team that had the most participants of all teams in last year's Oslo Marathon.

Team RP is perhaps best known for the fact that every year they gather a large number of cultural and sports personalities, who together with the team's many blind and partially sighted athletes run to profile Active Against Cancer in the Oslo Marathon.

Since the last newsletter, Team RP has made a solid mark in one of the winter's really big ski races - the Birkebeiner race. First in the Birkebeiner relay on Friday, with first and fourth place on the two teams, respectively, before the athletes the day after the 54 km long Birkebeinerrennet went into, among other things, third, fourth and fifth place in the men's class, while Team RP ladies just as well seized all three podium places.

Those of you who walked the Birkebeinerrennet - imagine driving down the steep and occasionally trackless slopes from Sjusjøen - without being able to see the surroundings. Only accompanied by a voice in front of you that tells when it turns right, left or warns when it gets very steep. An impressive feat of both practitioners and companions, and a testament to trust and good interaction.

Do you want to be inspired by this wonderful gang with lots of courage and zeal for training? Every Wednesday at 19.15, a large group from the Team RP community trains at Bislett Stadium, where intervals are run in addition to strength and balance training. Companions are warmly welcomed. For more information about the training, as well as to register as a companion, contact Team RP leader Håkon Gisholt, håkongis@gmail.com.

Next month, the Knights' Race and the preparations for the Holmenkoll Relay will be on the program for Team RP. We in the Oslo Marathon wish good luck, and are excited about the reports from there.
