Winner of half marathon men!

Bonface Kirui won the men's half marathon

Bonface Kirui from Kenya was fastest in the half marathon for men during today's Danske Bank Oslo Marathon. The Kenyan ran in to 1: 03.24. Last year's winner Sondre Nordstad Moen finished fourth overall, but became Norwegian champion in the half marathon for seniors.

Kirui also had the best personal record of the runners who competed at the starting line of the half marathon. Kirui has previously run the distance in 1:01:07. He represents the Young Champs development project in Kenya.

-I am very happy with the race, but it was tough. This was my first trip to Norway. I will be back next year, Bonface Kirui said right after the race.

In second place in the half marathon overall came junior Obimichael Fissehatsion. The Tjalve runner from Eritrea ran in to the time 1: 04.25. The half marathon was also the National Championships for juniors and seniors. As he has not lived in Norway for two years, he did not become Norwegian champion.

In third place came Sinay Fissehatsion from Tjalve. He ran in to 1:04:54. The Tjalve runner beat Sondre Nordstad Moen from the organizing club SK Vidar in the sprint. Nordstad Moen, who ran to a track record in the distance of 1:02:59 during last year's half marathon during the Danske Bank Oslo Marathon, got the time 1:04:55 today. Since Sinay has not lived in Norway for two years, he could not compete in the Norwegian championship.

-It was probably a little early after a long break. But I did not run so wrong in the second half, said Nordstad Moen right after the goal pass.

Today's Danke Bank Oslo Marathon is the 36th time the event has been launched. The final number of participants is not yet clear, but 23,000 were registered before the Children's Marathon. Last year, around 2,000 children participated in the Children's Marathon. This means that the organizer estimates around 25,000 runners for this year's edition of the Danske Bank Oslo Marathon.
