On Saturday 19 September, the NM in half marathon was arranged for the Funkis class. This is the fourth year that this distance has been arranged by the Oslo Marathon, and the sixth year with separate classes for Funkis.
16 women and men participated in NM Funkis on 19 September, and it was Håkon Gisholt who walked away with the victory in the men's class.
- The event was fantastic! Fun with so many participants, cheerleaders and good atmosphere along the trail! We have become a large and stable group in the Funkis gang now, and it is very nice to see. The Oslo Marathon has created an event that is well arranged for us Funkis participants, says winner of NM Funkis, Håkon Gisholt.
This is the sixth year that Team RP participates in the Oslo Marathon, and Håkon is aware that this is something they will continue with in the coming years.
Gisholt is SK Vidar and Team Rps Funkiskoordinator. Team RP is a group of race-loving people who suffer from the eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). The disease causes the vision to gradually disappear, which means that many choose to stay inactive. Team RP has worked to counteract this for the past six years. Every Wednesday, they have organized training at Bislett together with several companions. During the Danske Bank Oslo Marathon, Team RP runs Active against cancer, together with a number of celebrities as companions. Gisholt received good help from his companion Bente Skari.
-It's fun to see that all the medal winners in our class are from Team RP. This shows our good environment, and that width breeds peaks, says Gisholt.
For Håkon Gisholt, it is fun to see that so many in Team RP are doing well. Since Team RP's start-up, the development among the participants has been enormous.
-It was very fun to win the NM half marathon for funkis, but even bigger is to see that others do well. Martin (Team RP athlete) beat his time from last year by a full 40 min! It is fun, and shows that our training works for many, says Håkon happy.
During this year's event, Håkon Gisholt and hardbank Lillestrømsupporter Martin (pictured) had a somewhat unusual agreement. Gisholt ran the distance in a skirt, while Martin had to start in Branndrakt!
-It is easier to sell the body than the soul, so this was an easy choice, Gisholt smiles.
