We launch plow distance 10 KM!

Not yet heard of plowing? The new running trend is to pick up rubbish while jogging. Great for public health - great for the environment! We in the BMW Oslo Marathon love this new trend, and therefore launch our own plow distance in collaboration with Gjensidige and In the Same Boat.

The whole of Norway is plowing! Under the hashtag #Plogging , thousands of photos are now being shared on social media of junk-picking joggers, and news media around the world have covered the phenomenon.

Now you can also plow during the BMW Oslo Marathon (10 km). This is the distance for you who want to run, but at the same time contribute to a good cause - to make Oslo a little cleaner and focus on activity and less littering. Let's put public health and sustainability on the agenda together!

You will be given a garbage bag and gloves, and will have a maximum time of two hours to complete the mile. Here, however, time is not important - but to collect as much rubbish as possible along the trail. The bags must be delivered to the destination, where the waste will be sorted. There will be no timekeeping at the distance. Everyone who reaches the finish line within the maximum time with a garbage bag is the winner.

We will draw some lucky winners from the stage, who will win cool prizes from Meny, Adidas, Gjensidige, In the Same Boat and more. To take part in the draw, you must have downloaded and registered your race in the Plows app! Everyone will also receive their own plow medal and their own t-shirts and start number for the distance.

Participation in Plogging 10km costs 100 kroner, and here money goes to either Active against Cancer or Right to Play!

The plug distance is a collaboration with Gjensidige and the non-profit organization In The Same Boat. If you have not yet downloaded Gjensidige and the Norwegian Athletics Association's app Plogs, do so immediately! Here you can register and share all your plow sessions.

In The Same Boat works to limit marine litter, and has this summer traveled around Norway and arranged the Oslo Marathon Plogging Tour. Several have lined up at their plow running groups around the country. The tour ends at the BMW Oslo Marathon on 15 September 2018, which is also the date for World Cleanup day . Together we make Oslo a little more vibrant and a little greener!
