Wool or synthetic? Yes please, both
It probably depends mostly on taste and comfort and the temperature outside. If you run hard and sweat a lot, synthetic long sleeves can be a good choice. Extra moisture transport and thin materials are comfortable. One layer on the inside and one on the outside are often better than several warm layers before you seal again with a wind and waterproof jacket on the outside. Then not much moisture comes out and you risk getting icy cold during the run. Wool is great when it's extra cold. Wool is unique and keeps you dry and warm almost whatever the weather. But extra heat is not always what you need. Therefore, I recommend that you rather freeze a little the first 10 minutes of the run. Then it will pay off throughout the session.

If it rains horizontally or makes the snow down, the jacket is an effective weather protector on the run. Whether you need a waterproof jacket or one that keeps the sour wind out, there is a little taste and comfort. Waterproof is often stronger and a little stiffer in the material. Windproof often withstands a little moisture, but not a long rain shower. The important thing is that the jacket protects against the weather conditions you are exposed to. But often you forget to ensure the quality of the inner layer and the jacket can easily become hot and damp. One layer on the inside and then a jacket on the outside is a sure recipe. Remember that there are also many nice running jackets with integrated reflectors. Then you do not have to think about the reflective vest either!

If it is windy and cold, a running tights with a windproof front can be comfortable to wear. Otherwise, it is common with slightly thicker winter tights with frayed inside. Back on the running fashion are also "tracksters" who are narrow elastic pants and who look more like training pants than tights. Very comfortable on cold days, here you can possibly have a long synthetic or wool underwear deep against the skin.

Outside good, but inside best?
For those of you who thrive best in the winter, treadmill running can be a liberating way to get miles logged without fear of femur fractures or extremely stiff legs due to slipping on the ice. The mill is gentle on the legs. It dampens a little extra and you lift your legs more than you push off. This means that you use a little less muscle power in each step. Do not forget to train extra strength on your legs if you run a lot indoors!

But the best thing about the treadmill is that you can run with lighter shoes with less shock absorption as it both dampens extra and lifts you forward in every step. It is worth trying to run with lightweight shoes! Lightweight shoes are defined by weight. Shoes under 300 grams in men's size 42. Here is my favorite adizero Boston.

Remember the accessories too!
Mittens, socks, hat, reflector and headlamp - everything is vital for an optimal run in the winter darkness! If you have the equipment in order, a lot has been done, but you must have the inner motivation to get out in the winter darkness. Remember that many others have as much pain in the will as you do, so why not call a friend or make an appointment with your neighbor? Then a lot is done and the agreement is harder to break. Good run in the winter darkness!
