Team RP at Fornebuløpet!

The BMW Oslo Marathon follows the wonderful group of blind and partially sighted people from Team RP. You may have seen them run with yellow vests through the trails, but they have hardly seen you. During the event on 17 September, they gather a number of cultural and sports personalities, who together with the team's many athletes run as companions to profile Active Against Cancer during the BMW Oslo Marathon.

This week's Wednesday training was for many Team RP participants replaced with Fornebuløpet on 25 May. 17 blind and partially sighted people started, and both the effort and the mood were top notch! The athletes represented all the distances 3, 5 and 10 km, with the most participants on the longest distance.

Team RP made a solid mark during the race with a victory in 4 of 5 classes. It is not easy to see from the results that this group has difficulty seeing both the trail, the surface and all the people running around.

Do you want to increase your running motivation with this positive team? Every Wednesday at 19.15, a large group from the Team RP community trains at Bislett Stadium, where they run intervals, in addition to strength and balance training. Yoga has also become a regular optional feature on the program.

  • This group will definitely inspire you, and give motivation to keep running and improve your physical shape. I myself have been a companion for Team RP for a little over a year and look at Wednesdays as the highlight of the week and the most enjoyable training. Through Wednesday's training, I have also made several good acquaintances and a wonderful environment, says Julie Uggen from the Oslo Marathon.

Companions are warmly welcomed. For more information about the training, as well as to register as a companion, contact Team RP leader Håkon Gisholt, hakongis@gmail.com.

We in the BMW Oslo Marathon wish the team good luck with the training, and are excited about more updates and exciting projects from Team RP!
