Active against cancer

Active Against Cancer is a private foundation established by Grete Waitz and Helle Aanesen in 2007. The foundation works to include personalized training as part of cancer treatment from the time of diagnosis.

To achieve this goal, Aktiv mot kreft is establishing training rooms at cancer hospitals across the country, called Pusterom. This is done because research shows that personalized training can be positive for the vast majority of cancer patients – both before, during and after treatment. Training can help reduce unwanted side effects, provide increased endurance, strength and energy, and not least contribute to an increased sense of mastery and better quality of life. Today, there are Pusteroms in all health regions in Norway.

The foundation also supports research into the effects of exercise and cancer, and trains AKTIV instructors in collaboration with the Norwegian School of Sports Medicine and Oslo University Hospital. In addition, Aktiv mot kreft works internationally, with projects in the USA, Sweden and Ethiopia.

In 2026, the foundation, in collaboration with Oslo University Hospital, will open the world's first center of expertise for exercise and cancer at Campus Radiumhospitalet. The Active Against Cancer Center - Training and Cancer Rehabilitation will offer exercise guidance, pre-habilitation and psychosocial support, a psychologist and a clinical nutritionist. The center will also contain a modern research laboratory that will help to strengthen knowledge about the importance of exercise for cancer treatment and pre-rehabilitation.

Mental Health

Mental Health is a nationwide organization that works to ensure that everyone can live a meaningful life and experience self-worth and mastery. We work for increased openness, prevention and inclusion – and against taboos and exclusion related to mental health.

Through the Helpline 116 123, the chat service sidetmedord.no and the youth service Headspace, we provide life-saving support and assistance to people of all ages. In addition, we work preventively through school programs such as Venn1 and YAM, as well as local work in over 100 municipalities across the country.

Every conversation, every meeting, and every activity helps save lives – and to build a warmer and more inclusive society.

The Zuccarello Foundation

Run the DNB Oslo Marathon for the Zuccarello Foundation!

Do you want to run so that more children and young people can experience the same joy of sport that you may have taken for granted growing up? Then we would like you to run together with the Zuccarello Foundation.

The Zuccarello Foundation aims to reduce exclusion among children and young people in Norway by helping to increase participation in organized and self-organized sports and physical activity. Our main activity is to provide financial support to clubs, teams and parents through club grants and personal scholarships.

About the Zuccarello Foundation

Sports are the most important inclusion arena in Norway outside of school, but it is not a given that everyone can participate. There is a lot of shame in Norway about not being able to afford what everyone is supposed to be able to afford, and especially when it goes beyond one's own children. In addition to financial barriers, we see that there are often social or cultural reasons that create various barriers for children to participate. The Zuccarello Foundation works to break down these barriers - so that all children can participate regularly in sports and physical activity.

It was in 2016 that one of Norway's greatest athletes took the initiative to establish a foundation that works to ensure that no children and young people are left on the sidelines. As Mats would say; The fact that we in Norway have children and young people who do not get to experience the same joy that sports have given me over the years - due to barriers that largely come down to finances - we cannot help but do something about that. Few people will pursue their sport professionally, but the experiences and experiences you get - mastery, the joy of sports and being part of a team or a community - are invaluable experiences that contribute to mastery of life.

So why do we pay training fees, licenses, deductibles and equipment all over the country? Not so that Lise or Abdi can become the best in football or table tennis, but so that they can feel a sense of belonging!
