During this year's sponsor and event award, the Oslo Marathon won the award for this year's change!
When the pandemic hit, we hoisted ourselves around and arranged many virtual races, creating an opportunity for both our sponsors and our participants!
On 17 May last year, we arranged the 17th May Marathon, and 9,000 people participated all over the country, as well as the world.
In September 2020, we unfortunately had to cancel our physical event, but then arranged the BMW Oslo Marathon virtually. Here we got close to 6000 participants all over the world.
In Space Christmas 2020, we arranged the Space Christmas Race together with the Church's City Mission, with over 3500 participants. Each registration helped provide a meal to a person who needed it.
Together, we created running joy for over 18,000 people in 2020, despite the pandemic!

Oslo Marathon
With limited resources, the Oslo Marathon impressed, as they threw themselves around and completed a number of virtual events. They managed to maintain almost the same number of participants as during a physical event. It would have been easy to put the event on hold until next year, but they chose the most difficult thing, to adjust. With a focus on keeping people active, the Oslo Marathon created a platform and opportunities for its sponsors. At the same time, they contributed to the disadvantaged, such as the Church's City Mission, during the Romjulsløpet. The jury applauds for good and solid numbers and a great project, which has an extra value . A change that also provides opportunities for the future.
We are proud of what we have achieved, and look forward to continuing to deliver the joy of running to the people.
