The Oslo Marathon will be greener - and has Franzefoss on the team!

With 20,000 runners and even more spectators in the streets of Oslo during the Oslo Marathon on 15 September, some waste will unfortunately be produced. We in the Oslo Marathon want to be greener and better at waste management, and are therefore very happy to have an agreement in place with Franzefoss recycling.

- We hope that together with Franzefoss we find better solutions, which help us to become more environmentally friendly, says general manager of the Oslo Marathon, May Britt Dørum-Persen.

Source sorting at the Oslo Marathon

Franzefoss will ensure sorting of waste, and have clearly visible waste containers in three fractions along the entire trail.

- Franzefoss wants to be present where people are to raise awareness and contribute to good source sorting. The Oslo Marathon is a big event, and we see this as a great opportunity to achieve just this, says marketing manager Mona Tønne in Franzefoss.

In addition to the ordinary waste management, the Franzefoss monsters (see photo) will also be present during the Children's Marathon at Kontraskjæret the same day, to teach the children about source sorting through play.

Encouragement to the public

We hope the adults will set a good example, and we therefore encourage participants and the public to be aware of the signs on the waste bins, and help to throw the right waste in the right bin during the event.

- We know it is challenging to get good source sorting at large events, and we will facilitate as best we can with our knowledge and experience. On the other hand, we are completely dependent on runners and the public throwing the waste in the right container for the source sorting to be as good as possible, says Tønne.
