Motivation to get started!

Written by Elisabeth Ermesjø, Psychologist v / Volvat

If you want to find motivation to get started with training, it is wise to set a goal. This goal can be to sign up for an exercise race such as the BMW Oslo Marathon. There are two pitfalls to fall into, either that you get too eager and set too big goals, go too hard, or that you get too relaxed to your goal, and push on it. If you go out too hard and set yourself too big goals, it is easy to get tired of the training, lose motivation or you are in danger of being injured. It is important to focus on what is positive about exercising, the good feeling afterwards, the feeling of mastery, profit and more energy. It takes time and change habits, but if you maintain exercise at a level that is realistic for you, exercise can become a natural part of your daily routine.

Good luck,
