"My Marathon" Mia

My life has not always been so full of mastery, joy and activity. When I became pregnant with an elder in 2006, I had an early pelvic discharge. This was something I had heard go over by itself. But it did not, says Mia. In 2016, she will participate in the distance half marathon during the BMW Oslo Marathon.

Mia is 33 years old, married to a beautiful Finnmarking and has two wonderful children of 2.5 and 9.5 years. She works as a contact teacher at the lower secondary level and as an art teacher in the cultural school, jobs that complement each other perfectly, Mia believes.

From 2005 to 2013, Mia tried several different chiropractors, physiotherapists, received treatment at Ullevål hospital, tried healing, psychomotor physiotherapy and acupuncture. This cost a lot of time and money, and she had to have long breaks between treatments due to the mental strain.

I could not work. Life consisted of coping with the pain and the bad mood that came with it. I will never forget the feeling of having the skills to work, having the passion for a profession and burning to be part of a community. And then I could not join! I had an everyday life with pain from the time I woke up in the morning until I finally managed to fall asleep in the evening, Mia says.

In 2013, Mia and her husband had a wonderful girl and her body was a little better, but was far from good. After 8 years, she finally found a physiotherapist who listened to her and challenged her way of thinking in the right way.

A few months after the treatment started, Mia jogged 5 km in Jentebølgen. A few months later, she participated in the KK-mila, and this year is the third time she will participate in a race.

At Christmas, I set myself a hair-raising goal of trying my hand at a half marathon during the BMW Oslo Marathon in September. I experience for the first time time constraints and a slightly busy everyday life. This is an everyday life I dreamed of for many years. My training consists a lot of jogging in nature with the children or alone. I have had to sacrifice so much before, so now I enjoy not having to choose.

My goal with the half marathon is to complete. I do this alone, but hope more people want to run with me. I have never run this far before, so this is going to be incredibly nerve-wracking.
At the same time, when I look back, this is life itself. Absolutely fantastic, concludes Mia.
