Camilla's downsizing to OsloMila!

By Magnus Thorud, Ambassador for the BMW Oslo Marathon.

In March, Camilla (40) set a goal to run her first marathon, and our ambassador Magnus has taken on the task and helped her there. We follow their journey towards the BMW Oslo Marathon 2018.

We are moving almost as fast into 2018 as Camilla is running intervals and will soon be approaching the beginning of June and OsloMila!

For those who have not yet got it, OsloMila is an official charging race for the BMW Oslo Marathon. This is Camilla`s first sub-goal on the way to running her first marathon on 15 September.

Camilla has set a time goal to run OsloMila under 55 minutes, but this will still be considered a B-goal as the most important thing is to have fun, enjoy the course and get a positive experience with a start number on the chest. As the competition is now approaching, Camilla is well on her way to stepping down her training to ensure a good profit towards the day of the competition.

By downsizing, the amount of training is adjusted downwards to build a physical and mental surplus towards the competition. If this is done correctly, Camilla will hit a form peak and be able to perform up to her optimum.

For Camilla, this means that she has maintained the number of sessions in the penultimate week towards the competition, but that she has reduced the length of her calm and long trips by approx. 70 percent. Although she is not so fond of it, she still has to run intervals, but cut down to 40 percent of the length of these sessions. She has maintained this same intensity in these sessions.

In the very last week, Camilla will do the following:

Monday: Run 30-40 minutes calmly

Tuesday : free

Wednesday: Run 30 minutes calmly, but with elements of preferred competitive speed. (5:30 min km)

Thursday: Fri.

Friday: Light jog for 20 minutes, with the last 4-5 minutes at preferred competitive speed. This is called an alarm clock where Camilla prepares the muscles for tomorrow's competition.

Saturday: OsloMila!

Beyond that, Camilla has been told not to try anything new during the competition, as this is not the time to try out new shoes, sports bras or running tights. Here she must use equipment she knows well from before. The same goes for nutrition. She must eat and drink you she is used to and feel free to get some extra carbohydrates the days before.

Otherwise, we hope that the toy poodle Ulla is calm and gives Camilla a good night's sleep so that she is rested and ready for Oslo Mila on the 2nd of June!

Camilla's thoughts:

“In this summer weather, downsizing has been lovely. I must admit that it should

Forcing yourself to run in tropical heat has been less tempting than usual. But something has

it then become. A couple of longer trips in the last week, and a couple of trips have been replaced with rooooolig

cycling. Then I can take the poodle with me, and it kind of wins. A little

exercise and some quality time with the dog. The dog prefers not to go for such long walks in the heat,

but intervals she is very good at.

I look forward to the downsizing plan Magnus has made for the week before the Oslo mile. It is completely

affordable, and almost a little weird to only have to run for half an hour once I have

got me out. »

We're in, are you?

Regards Camilla and Magnus Thorud.
