Join the Sinnataggenløpet!

On Saturday 22 June, the 150th anniversary of Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943) will be marked with a big birthday party in Vigelandsparken! Oslo Marathon and Sportsklubben Vidar are part of the celebration, by arranging the Sinnataggenløpet! A children's race of approx. 550 mi Vigelandsparken for the age group 6-13 years. The trail is 650 meters in Frognerparken, and there is also a class where children under 6 can run with their parents. Everyone gets a medal. The race is part of the anniversary celebration for Gustav Vigeland 150 years. Throughout the day, there will be activities in the park related to the anniversary and the Sinnataggenløpet is part of today's event.

Sinnataggen is Vigelandsparken's most beautiful sculpture. It is also the most popular among the park's visitors - perhaps because everyone can recognize themselves in it. Vigeland got the idea for the sculpture during a visit to London in 1901.

-We imagine that he saw a screaming boy on the street during one of his many walks. In July 1901 he at least drew a sketch of an angry boy with the inscription "A Young Man". It was not until many years later that people started calling this boy Sinnataggen, says the Vigeland Museum to the Oslo Marathon.

Museum director Jarle Strømodden is really looking forward to the Sinnataggen race on 22 June.

- We hope for a large turnout, both of small, eager participants and enthusiastic supporters!

Warm-up for the Children's Marathon

The general manager of the Oslo Marathon, May Britt Dørum-Persen, is grateful to be asked to arrange the children's race for the Vigeland Museum.

- We hope that many children will come to participate in the Sinnataggenløpet on June 22. All the children get a medal, and there will be a lot of other fun in the park this day. We look forward to seeing so many children run and experience the joy of sports together, says Dørum-Persen.

She hopes that the Sinnatag race will inspire more children to run more, and hopes to see more of them at the Children's Marathon on September 21!

- This is the perfect warm-up for the Children's Marathon which is at Kontraskjæret in September. We can also recommend SK Vidars Athletics School in weeks 26, 27 and 32 at Bislett Stadium, where the active children can continue to practice athletics during the school holidays.

 Vigelandsparken park for activity

A survey conducted by the City of Oslo shows that 82% of Oslo's population use the park for recreation and leisure. Be it training, wheelbarrow rides or a ride with the dog. Arranging a children's race was therefore very natural for the Vigeland Museum, as they were to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Gustav Vigeland. The park will therefore be full of other activities this day - from yoga to rebus running, frisbee and play! And as they themselves say:

-Use the park as usual - and a little more. Bring your own barbecue or picnic basket, a park game and something to sit on.

And register your children for the Sinnataggenløpet!
