WANTS TO CREATE OSLO MARATHON MOOD IN HOMMELVIK!

On 19 September, this year's Oslo Marathon will be held in a slightly different way. The event is now being moved digitally across the country. In little Hommelvik, outside Trondheim, Thea Foss Bækkevold and her husband Anders will create a good atmosphere for their running group, Muruvikingan by making an ever so small mini-Oslo Marathon.

When the Oslo Marathon can not run as normal, a virtual solution is fantastic. I am glad that they have chosen to hold the virtual race on the race day itself as an alternative. It will be great fun to run and know that runners all over the country are out at the same time, say the initiators Thea and her husband Anders.

In addition to being the initiator of the local race in Hommelvik, Thea Foss Bækkevold is also a profiled ambassador for the Oslo Marathon. She fronts running and the joy of running to all her followers on Instagram all over Norway. Now the couple will try to recreate some of the atmosphere you normally experience in Oslo on the 3rd Saturday in September.

We will count down before the start and run the same vignette as during the Oslo Marathon. We will try to create some Oslo Marathon magic in Hommelvik, there will be cheering posters, Norwegian flags, glitter and a good atmosphere, the couple says enthusiastically. In addition, it's cool that we can sign up as a team. Then we can get a separate results list and have proper competition internally in our running club, says Thea. Read more about how team registration works here!

At the offices of the Oslo Marathon and the Vidar Sports Club, such initiatives are met with great pleasure.

This is exactly what we dream of. That people should create their own little race that can help motivate and inspire others to participate. Anyone who wants can of course order a medal and a t-shirt, and when you can also experience mastery and unity as they do in Hommelvik, it will be extra fun, says the Oslo Marathon.

Virtual races are nothing new for Thea and Anders. On National Day, almost the entire small family of six was dressed up for participation in the virtual running party 17th May. Over 9,000 people signed up for what was to be a real success.

Almost the whole family ran on National Day. The youngest participated in 3 x Hooray, while Mali (12 years) debuted on the mile by joining Jordbærmila.

Mali dreams of completing 10 for Grete "for real" next year and will join Oslo. Elder of 22 chose champagne breakfast this day, but is of course at the Oslo Marathon in Hommelvik on September 19, says Thea

For the couple, who live in Muruvik in Malvik municipality, running is an important part of everyday life. The whole family is active, and when it suits, the whole gang goes for a run. For both Anders and Thea, running has become a part of life.

Running means almost everything to me. This is where I disconnect and get new energy. Running is my refuge. Running is an easy activity, with just a pair of sneakers I have experienced new places I would not have discovered without, Running has given me many new friends, Thea explains.

Her husband Anders completely agrees, and believes that running is the alpha and omega for both the physique and the psyche.

He often needs no more than a small mill session, a leisurely forest walk or a little "chattering mile" with friends, he says.

Now the recommendation is crystal clear from the small family just outside Trondheim.

Do as we do, arrange and gather a small running group, make a little extra out of it. But keep your distance and follow the infection control rules!
